MOUNTING SIDE WHEEL CARRIERS

Due to the change made sometime ago in the location of the joint between fender and dust shield, it was necessary for mechanics, when installing a side wheel carrier on the present job, to remove both the fender and shield in order to drill the frame for the installation of the carrier.

To simplify this, side wheel carrier bracket holes are now being punched in both the Model A chassis and the 131 1⁄2″ truck chassis frames, before assembly.

On the 157″ chassis, the No. 210 panel delivery is the only type of body on which fender well equipment is used and as it is not necessary to remove the dust shield in order to install a side wheel carrier on the 157″ chassis, the side members are not punched for carrier installation. The side members are, however, prick punched to show the exact points at which to drill the holes. (See Fig. 1079.)
