A new design body pillar is now being used in canopy top express models 196-A and 198-A.
The new pillar is of hardwood construction throughout and replaces the old design steel pillars which have been obsoleted.
The new design pillars are set into a pocket in a casting attached to the flare board. They are secured in the pockets by bolts and nuts. At the top of the body, the pillar is attached by means of a gusset and pocket assembly.
Fig. 1150 shows the new pillar and the parts used in installing it in the body.
If an instance is brought to your attention where one of the old design pillars has been broken or damaged, it will be necessary to replace all of the old steel pillars with the new design wood pillar, as the old style parts have been obsoleted. The owner must not be charged for making the changeover. The labor involved is comparatively small, and your Branch will upon return of the old parts, issue credit to cancel the charge for the new parts.
