RESTORING HISTORY ONE CAR AT A TIME

PREVENTS DAMAGING WHEEL NUT THREADS

If excessive force is applied when tightening the lower wheel nut on the rear tire carrier, it may damage the threads on the check nut A-21846-S- 7, causing the stud to come out when removing the wheel nut.

To prevent this condition, a lockwasher A-22330 acting as a spacer is now assembled behind the check nut. (See Fig. 1140.) This reduces the thread length of stud A-1449-C, 1/16”.

When spare wheel and tire lock assembly is installed, lockwasher A-22330 is replaced by spare wheel and tire lock band.
