RESTORING HISTORY ONE CAR AT A TIME

SOFTER SPRING ACTION FOR SPECIAL LOADS

In the delivery of certain types of fragile materials such as baked goods, pastries, custards, etc., the standard rear springs used under the 1311⁄2″ chassis may be too stiff to satisfactorily transport such products.

In such cases the standard springs can be easily replaced with AA-5560-E rear springs. These springs are used as regular equipment under the ambulance and funeral coach. They are longer and have considerably softer action than the standard springs and can be installed under any body mounted on the 1311⁄2″ chassis. It is understood, of course, that these springs are not to be installed under trucks where heavy duty service is required.

To replace a standard rear spring with the AA-5560-E spring, it is necessary to move the AA-5775-A shackle bracket forward 121/s inches. (See Fig. 1119.) This is necessary due to the extra length of the AA-5560-E spring. Spring clips AA-5705-E are used with the new spring.
