Thrust Bearing Cap

Supplementing information on the new thrust bearing and cap described on page 342 in the May issue of the Bulletin, when re-placing a thrust bearing be sure to check the ground surface of the thrust bearing cap for being absolutely square-this is important. To check the cap, place it on a surface plate and note whether there is any rock when your fingers are placed on the cap. If there is any rock a new cap should be installed.
